Tanasi Clubhouse Shoreline Stabilization

Tanasi Shoreline Stabilization

Purpose

Stabilize the Tanasi Clubhouse Shoreline, about 1500 feet, to eliminate the severe erosion that is evident.

Project Description

Demonstrate various ways to stabilize shorelines. Three different technologies were used for stabilization — rip rap, coconut rolls, and rock-filled gabions. On approximately 500 feet of stabilized shoreline, native plants were added to help stabilize the soil and enhance the natural environment.

Contributions

Major contributors to making the Tanasi project a success were: TVA (money, material, and personnel), Tellico Village Public Works, Tellico Village Garden Club, and WATeR.
